Streamate cracks down on models lying about their location following member complaints
Cam site Streamate, following increased complaints from members, is cracking down on models claiming to be from countries other than their own. Previously, a model’s IP address was used to generate a list of appropriate countries that the model could choose to use as their “Display Country”, visible to members. With so many models using VPNs, however, it was easy for models to generate any location they desired. According to Streamate, there was growing member dissatisfaction with this system, as members can search for models by geographic location and many were unhappy when it was clear that the model was not actually from the country displayed on their profile. Now models will have to select a display country based on the country listed on their most recently submitted photo ID document. Surrounding countries will also be available on the list of options to maintain model privacy, but there will no longer be an option to use a VPN to substantially change the countries available in the “Display Country” list.
