OG porn fanclub platform tries to leave its sex work past behind
Household name and adult fanclub heavy hitter Onlyfans has officially announced that it is leaving its porn past behind. After a cat-and-mouse game where multiple news outlets reported that Onlyfans was about to ban sexual content while Onlyfans support adamantly denied the stories, Onlyfans finally contacted creators and confirmed the rumors. As of October 1, 2021, explicit content will no longer be allowed on the Onlyfans platform. From October 1, creators may no longer upload explicit content, and they have until December 1, 2021 to delete explicit content from their account that was uploaded prior to the ban. Content containing nudity is still permitted, but content that shows, promotes, advertises or refers to “sexually explicit conduct” is not. Onlyfans has updated its “Acceptable Use Policy” to detail what is no longer permitted on the platform. Essentially, you can be naked, but as soon as you do anything while naked, you’re breaking the rules.
Many platforms have stepped up following the announcement, offering alternatives to Onlyfans for creators left scrambling. Some sites have announced plans to launch subscription platforms, while others are offering increased payouts, signing bonuses, and/or help migrating content to their platform.
