ImLive offers $1 million to sports commentators to make cam shows accessible to visually impaired, offers few details for models

Cam site ImLive has announced that is is launching a cam site for visually impaired customers. ImLive4TheBlind will feature live cam shows with play-by-play commentary provided by professional sports broadcasters. With the suspension of sports due to COVID-19, many broadcasters were left unemployed. Even as some professional leagues resume play, there are a lot of out-of-work commentators, a group that ImLive is now trying to hire.
Although award-winning (and occasionally controversial) Fox Sports play-by-play commentator Joe Buck turned down ImLive’s invitation, other broadcasters have been already been hired. After all, ImLive4TheBlind.com is offering $1 million to successful applicants to the program. Broadcasters who want to cash in will be required to commentate on 25 shows per week for 2 consecutive months to receive the cash. If multiple broadcasters hit that limit, there will be an “open audition” where members will select the winner. It is not clear if commentators will be paid for individual shows, or if they are doing it for free in the hopes of receiving $1 million at the end of 2 months.
ImLive will be selecting specific live cam shows to receive the play-by-play treatment, and the audio will be available simulataneously on ImLive4TheBlind.com for free. After the cam show ends, the recorded audio play-by-play will be available on the site, as well as video of the commentator. The first play-by-play enhanced show allegedly took place on July 8, 2020, though the ImLive4TheBlind site currently has no way to access that content, as it is completely taken up with the advertisement for commentators. Additionally, it is not clear whether or not listeners will be able to tip the model, whether these are only shows happening in public chat or if it will include private shows (thus making paid content available in another form for free), or if models are compensated in any way for their cam shows being used for this purpose. ImLive has also not announced how they will select the cam shows, or whether models can opt in or out of this new program.

“Adult entertainment for the visually impaired has been severely lacking over the years, particularly in the live camming arena, and ImLive4TheBlind is happy to provide this service to an underserved community. There’s no reason why a blind person should not be able to experience the arousal and gratification that can come with a live cam session. Our broadcasters are professionals who know how to build anticipation and can create a clear picture for users in real-time.” – Adrian Stoneman, ImLive Vice President
