GoAskAlex Discusses Disability In Sex Work For Sex Work Survival Guide (July 15, 2021)

GoAskAlex to share experiences functioning with an ostomy in sex work

Performer and sex educator GoAskAlex will be hosting a live discussion panel on Disability in Sex Work for non-profit group Sex Work Survival Guide on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 4pm Pacific/7pm Eastern time. GoAskAlex had a total abdominal colectomy in 2019 and now wears a permanent medical device. The panel is part of Sex Work Survival Guide’s monthly speaker series here industry members share their experiences and expertise to support and encourage the community. Tickets to GoAskAlex’s Disability in Sex Work panel are free through EventBrite, but any donations from guests will be donated to the WISH Drop-In Centre Society in Vancouver, which supports women involved in outdoor sex work.

“I am so honored and proud to be able to take part in this month’s Sex Work Survival Guide Speaker Series and impart my knowledge as an ostomate with perceived physical limitations that would have kept me from having a career as an entertainer in the past. Those ideas and assumptions about who sex workers are and what we are capable of are going away, thanks to organizations such as this one… the more we educate, motivate and let our voices be heard on local, national and international platforms, the better off we will be as a whole.”– GoAskAlex
